Boston star struggles in home defeat
The Philadelphia 76ers picked up a comfortable 108-103 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.
Joel Embiid had a dominant performance for the 76ers, finishing with 35 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. James Harden added 20 points and 9 assists, while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 16 points.
Jason Tatum led the Celtics with 20 points, but he struggled with his shot, making just 8 of 22 from the field. Jaylen Brown added 18 points, while Marcus Smart had 16.
The 76ers took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Celtics 35-20. Embiid was particularly dominant in the period, scoring 15 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.
The Celtics made a late run in the fourth quarter, but they could not overcome the 76ers' lead. Tatum hit a three-pointer with 1:05 remaining to cut the deficit to 103-100, but Harden made a pair of free throws on the next possession to seal the win.
The 76ers now lead the series 3-2. Game 6 will be played in Philadelphia on Thursday night.
