Chris Christie: Trump's Incitement of Capitol Siege is Impeachable
Former New Jersey Governor Tells ABC's George Stephanopoulos: "I Don't Think Anybody's More Qualified" to Be President
Chris Coons (D-DE) Also Joins "This Week" for an Exclusive Interview
(WASHINGTON) - Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "This Week" that he believes President Trump's incitement of the Capitol siege is an impeachable offense.
"I think he's incited this insurrection," Christie said. "I think he's responsible for what happened on January 6th. And I think he should be held accountable for it."
Christie, a Republican who has been critical of Trump in the past, said that he believes the House of Representatives should impeach Trump for a second time.
"I think the House should impeach him," Christie said. "I think the Senate should convict him. And I think he should be removed from office."
Christie's comments come as the House of Representatives is considering whether to impeach Trump for a second time. The House impeached Trump on charges of inciting an insurrection on January 6th, but the Senate acquitted him.
In addition to Christie, Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) will also join "This Week" for an exclusive interview. Coons is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee.
"This Week" airs on Sunday mornings on ABC.
