2018 Mlb Draft Redraft

WEB Re-Drafting Elly De La Cruz and the 2018 MLB Draft Including International Prospects News Scores Highlights

MLB Pipelines Jonathan Mayo takes a look back at the 2018 MLB Draft and reorders the first round.

Casas had as much raw power as anyone in the 2018 Draft and a history of starring for U.S. teams in international competition.

The 2018 Draft got underway Monday night in Secaucus, N.J., with the Tigers taking right-hander Casey Mize with the No. 1 overall pick. But what if the Draft were re-done today?

MLB Pipeline's Jonathan Mayo did just that, re-drafting the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft, taking into account the performances of players in the Minors and Majors over the past two seasons.

Mayo's re-draft has some notable changes from the original Draft. For example, he has the Reds taking shortstop Elly De La Cruz with the No. 1 overall pick, instead of the Tigers taking Mize.

De La Cruz is a 19-year-old switch-hitter from the Dominican Republic who is considered one of the best prospects in baseball. He has a combination of speed, power and athleticism that makes him a potential five-tool player.

Mayo also has the Rays taking shortstop Wander Franco with the No. 2 overall pick, instead of the Royals taking Brady Singer.

Franco is another 19-year-old shortstop from the Dominican Republic who is considered one of the best prospects in baseball. He has a combination of hitting ability, speed and fielding skills that makes him a potential superstar.

It will be interesting to see how the players in Mayo's re-draft perform in the years to come. But one thing is for sure: the 2018 MLB Draft was a deep one, and there are a lot of talented players who could make a big impact in the Majors in the years to come.
